Is this the first wedding you’ve ever planned?
If you aren’t prepared, it can be a bit overwhelming and stressful. You want this day of all days to be the best day of your life. You’ve thought about this since you were a little girl. Now it’s time to actually plan your wedding.
Over the years I’ve worked with literally hundreds of brides and I’ve found there are three ways brides plan their weddings.
There are brides who hire a wedding planner. The wedding planner virtually takes care of all the details for you. When they come into our salon with their brides they can usually give me a good idea of the style, color and fabric of the wedding dress the bride wants. She already has most of the wedding vendors lined up either from previous relationships or contacts she will make.
Brides who can hire a wedding planner are usually easy to work with and stress free.
Next are the brides who are smart enough to seek help. They buy bridal magazines to see all the wedding styles. They go online to see what kinds of lists can help them to organize everything. They ask for help. These brides can save thousands of dollars on their wedding if they know where to look. I would say that 80% of the brides I get to work with are in this, what I call “Smart Bride” catagory.
There are two types of online resources – the free websites that give some hints and helps for the bride. These general sites typically give general information, some charts, calendars, and budgets. And the paid sites where you can purchase a wedding planner book or ebook. I’ve seen a number of these books that brides have brought into our salon.
The very best value that I’ve seen, and the owners of the salon agree is found at wedding discount guide. It’s the same wedding planner book that they give away free to our brides.
Personally I feel it could have a few more information on proper budgeting and it actually lacks details for proper wedding etiquette. But it’s super strong points are on saving the bride money. There is page after page of helps and hints for saving money. As a bridal consultant I now use one of the best ideas from the book to help my brides personally save from $200 to $500.
I can make a couple of phone calls for my brides and using the technique explained in this book I can guarantee to save money for every bride I work with….and I love doing it for them. Check it out at wedding discount guide.
The third type of bride plans her wedding “by the seat of her pants”. She just starts out and gets going. Our bridal salon is usually one of the first stops. She wants to get the dress of her dreams. She’ll ask me what to do next. She’ll ask friends what she should do and she’ll go from wedding vendor to wedding vendor placing orders and getting things done.
I hope non of you are the third type of bride. Let me encourage you to spend a little extra time and plan your wedding. Plan on saving money when you do too.
